Dr. Maria Moloney
Dr Maria Moloney is a privacy, data protection and AI governance expert serving as Head of Research at PrivacyEngine, where she leads research into privacy risk, AI regulation, and compliance frameworks. She holds a PhD in Information Systems from Trinity College Dublin with a focus on privacy risk management engineering and has over 20 years’ experience in research and consulting across information privacy, cybersecurity, and AI policy. Dr Moloney is also a Fulbright Scholar and has held research affiliations with University College Dublin and international research networks. In addition to her corporate research role, she is active in professional bodies, including as Director of the Irish Computer Society, and Co-Chair of the AI Working Group at the Confederation of European Data Protection Organisations (CEDPO). She regularly speaks and publishes on topics at the intersection of data protection, AI, and regulation (e.g., GDPR and the EU AI Act).
